About:
The Kea is a species of large parrot found in the forested and alpine regions of the South Island of New Zealand. About 48 cm long, it is mostly olive-green with a brilliant orange under its wings and has a large, narrow, curved, grey-brown upper beak. The double twist pounamu is a eternity symbol. This refers to the bond between peoples of cultures rather than individuals. These Maori pendants were traditionally given offering friendship between different tribes. However the Kea and the pounamu for me represents the joining of nature and human, in order for the survival of both species we need a bond to our native habitats, supporting eternal survival.
